MY DESIGN THINKING CLASS JOURNEY

I still remember the first day of our design thinking class where we learned about the Norman Door. I thought what a crazy but surprisingly fun course. My remaining journey proved this point and also gave me insights on how might I solve a problem.

Design thinking class was like none other I have ever attended. During the first few classes, I was quite confident that I know concepts like designer, prototype, emphasize, etc. But, this was proved wrong. The classes forced me to look at things with different perspective. Especially, the activity of joining the dots and making as many items as possible. It was almost like the movie “3 idiots”, and I had to relate myself to chatter. I always thought that things like missiles and rockets have prototypes. Not, in my wildest dream I thought that a simple idea could be prototype. This fact in itself was quite humorous to me.

Also, the classes truly taught me the meaning of positively taking feedback and continuously improving. Never, I had a class in which I was required to grade the teacher. This simple act of grading helped me realize how important was to make mistakes and improve them.

Furthermore, most of activities were designed to strengthen our team-building and working. When, my previous group was dissolve, I was kinda really depressed that I couldn’t do well. But, to my surprise, now I feel I was lucky enough to work with two different groups and make lots of new friends especially during lockdown and all. It was quite exhilarating. This dilution of our group also taught me accept failures and really start giving my efforts.

How is it possible that I don’t talk about free loaders while writing about my journey of Design Thinking class. This helped me realize whether now or in my future endeavors I was always teamed with free loaders. But, I should not allow that to get me down. Instead, more effort should come from my part. It made me more practical and straight-forward.

As they say a part of the journey is the end we also have to end this journey as it is the nature’s rule which we can’t deny. I would like to appreciate the efforts of my group members and also my teachers who have helped me to complete this fabulous trip. Lastly, the course had been a wonderful journey and it gave me ways to analyze my weaknesses and to solve them.
